Foreign trade concentrated inNorth and Central America during the first 60 years, but gradually shifted to the Far East with the establishment of C. Melchers & Co., Hong Kong, in 1866.
   

Today, in addition to the head office in Bremen, branch offices and associated companies have been established in Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Yangon, Jakarta, Colombo, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Seoul, Bangkok, San Francisco, Cincinnati, Manila, Taipei, Saigon and Hanoi.
